Big Al was a wonderful sport, the kind of guy who saw.softball as fun, and a way of building community.
We were on competing teams, Schwarz-Mann against MRC, but the competition was really secondary to getting to know each other.
He was an imposing figure on the field, but it was his welcoming heart that I will miss. A real gentle, gentleman.
