Allyson Meyler Obituary

Allyson Meyler

October 26, 1987 - October 10, 2024

Allyson Willis Meyler of Greensboro died Oct. 10, two weeks shy of her 37th birthday. Allyson was the adored daughter of Judy and John Meyler and the loving wife of Konstantinos Dendrinos, all of Greensboro. Her entire extended family and friends have been heartbroken since she died unexpectedly.

Allyson was born in Greensboro Oct. 26, 1987. She attended Guilford County schools, graduating from Western Guilford High School in 2006. She began higher education at UNC-Charlotte then transferred to UNC-Chapel Hill, graduating in 2010 with a degree in communication studies with distinction. Her final college experience was a summer study abroad in Athens, Greece.

There she met "Kostas," the love of her life. During their first two years together in Greece, Allyson had some memorable, life-changing experiences. Those included employment as a "nanny" for Malissa and Bobby Shriver's 2-year-old daughter while the family was in Athens to celebrate the 2011 Special Olympics honoring its founder, Ethel Kennedy.

Returning to the U.S., Allyson and Kostas were married June 18, 2012. Kostas continued his career in hospitality management and subsequently became a U.S. citizen, while never losing pride in his Greek heritage. He and Allyson would look forward to their vacations and family visits back to Greece.

Allyson pursued her career as a strategic content marketer in Greensboro with the Brooks Group and later the Center for Creative Leadership. Working remotely at her new job with The Institutes Knowledge Group of Malvern, PA, she was promoted to Associate Director of Marketing Content after just one year. Her manager praised the promotion as "a testament to Allyson's work ethic, leadership and being really smart and strategic."

Allyson enjoyed cooking, gardening and had a flair for artistic creations. In her spare time, she wrote a well followed food and wellness blog she called "Reclaiming Yesterday." She was passionate about the earth and ecology and did all she could to reuse and recycle. Even in death, her Green Burial at All Souls Natural Cemetery in Greensboro aligns with her values of caring for the earth.

Those cherishing Allyson's memory include brothers Scott Meyler and Eric Meyler (Jessica); aunt Margaret Mortimer; uncles Lee Mortimer (Karen), Allen Mortimer (Suzanne), Bill Meyler, Scott Meyler (Sandi), Chris Meyler (Beverly), Glenn Meyler; cousins Jason Mortimer (Miyuki), Samuel Mortimer, Whitney Mortimer (David), Melissa Mortimer; niece Riley Turner (5); nephew Crew Meyler (17 months); and in-laws Emmanuel, Johanna and John Dendrinos.

A memorial service to celebrate Allyson's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at Fellowship Presbyterian Church, 2005 New Garden Road in Greensboro. All family and friends are welcome. The family encourages donations to storm victims in North Carolina as a wonderful memorial to Allyson.
