Alvin FINK Obituary

Now in Jesus' loving arms, Alvin Dale Fink died on March 16, 2022, in Odessa, WA. He was born on January 30, 1931, to parents Elizabeth and Reuben Fink of Odessa, WA.

Graduating from Odessa High School in 1949, he attended WSU where he played football for the "Cougs" on the freshman team. He headed to PLU his sophomore year, continued his education, and played football for the "Lutes" for another three years. He graduated with a degree in Finance in 1953.

On June 27, 1953, he married Janet Miller of Puyallup, WA. After he spent two years in the US Army, he and Janet returned to the family farm southwest of Odessa. When Janet passed in 2013, they had been married just short of 60 years.

The most joyous aspect of Alvin's life was his relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He often expressed his delight in the blessings of the Holy Spirit. He loved the fellowship at Christ Lutheran Church of Odessa, WA, where he was a life-long member. He served locally and regionally for the church.

Alvin's interests revolved around his farm, his church, and his community. He was a PLU Regent, a commissioner at Odessa Memorial Hospital, and was supportive of the Odessa Healthcare Foundation. Among the activities, he enjoyed throughout his life were Bible studies, politics, golfing, photography, auctioneering, fishing, and playing cards & cribbage. Being a cancer survivor gave him a shared empathy for others going through the same battle.

He loved to share stories and tell corny jokes…and enjoyed coaching and giving advice on golf and any other topic he could get away with. One of his memorable sayings was, "No one has more fun than People." He was a passionate supporter of all of Odessa's local sports teams.

Alvin's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his children, Gregory (David), Steven (Leslie), Jon (Sharon), grandchildren Drew, Lauren, Jessi (Daniel), son-in-law Joseph, brother Maurice (Helene), sister-in-law Marilyn and Gail (Jim), and his Aunt Jean.

Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Janet, daughter Aileen, his parents Reuben and Elizabeth, brother Marvin, and sister Marciel.

Celebration of life will be on April 23, 2022, at Christ Lutheran Church in Odessa, WA at 11:00 am.
