Anne K. Graff

Anne Kay Graff, 87, of Swansea passed away peacefully September 5 after a sudden illness, surrounded by family. Born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the second child of Dr. Ralph M. and Sophie Patterson, Anne grew up in Anne Arbor, Michigan. A beloved wife and partner of Dr. William H. Graff, and a devoted nurse, teacher, mother, and grandmother, she cared for and was loved by many during her long life. Anne was a proud graduate of the University of Michigan and the Cornell University School of Nursing. She took pride in both teaching nursing and in managing her husbands medical practice. A woman of extraordinary wit and verve, she lived a life of gratefulness and service. She was a supporter and volunteer for many organizations, including Friends Academy, Northfield Mt. Hermon School, Little Theater, Our Theater, the Fall River Homemaker Health Agency, and Christ Church in Swansea. Anne was an avid reader and traveler, making annual trips to the shores of Lake Superior, where she and her family spent many joyful summers. She loved going to the beach, feeding birds, and ice cream. She is survived by her husband of 65 years; her sister, Martha Dickson; her four children, Kathryn (Bill) of Maine, Timothy (Mary) of New Hampshire, William, of California, and Marjorie, of Rhode Island; Julianne King of Hawaii, whom she loved like a daughter; and her ten cherished grandchildren: Nick, Harriet, Fran, Tim, Sophie, Will, Finn G., Annie, Grace, and Finn P. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank Patterson. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 am in Christ Episcopal Church, 57 Main St., Swansea, MA 02777.
