Audrey Wittwer Obituary

Audrey Lucille Haycock Wittwer
1935-2018
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, Audrey Lucille Haycock Wittwer, passed away on May 7, 2018 at the age of 82. She died of causes incident to age and was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Our dear Mother was known for her joyous and playful spirit and for her energy, spunk, and enthusiasm, eliciting many giggles from those around her. She was always either in the middle of or earnestly planning a program or party.
Audrey was born on September 14, 1935 in Pueblo, Colorado to her parents Wandamere (Sorenson) and Orlando Haycock. Later, she attended Brigham Young University where she met her eternal sweetheart, Marion. They met when Marion played the drums in a band that accompanied the dance group in which Audrey performed.
In addition to her talents in dance and music, Audrey was an exquisite cook, seamstress, event planner, party queen, and cake-decorator (she baked and decorated all of her childrens' wedding cakes, and many others). Because of her fun personality, she had many good friends and a wide social circle-people loved to be around her. She was always so careful to be sure that everyone felt comfortable and loved.
She employed her natural leadership, social, and organizational skills in professional pursuits and many church callings. She worked for many years as an executive assistant in many professional organizations, culminating in her service assisting the Managing Director of Finance of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). She also worked for 25 years at the University of Utah Media Services and KUED.
As a life-long member of the LDS church, Audrey served in the presidencies of many church auxiliaries; she had a special fondness for the youth of the church and enjoyed her callings in the Primary and Young Women organizations. As the chairperson of the Activities Committee, she organized countless road shows, youth trips to Bear Lake, ward and stake events, and even the design and construction of her stake's float entry for the Days of '47 parade.
Audrey lived her testimony of the Savior through her tireless service, care, and compassion. Her posterity will endeavor to emulate that example in the lives they lead. She will be missed by her loving children Laurie (Art) Johnson, Bradley (Julie) Wittwer, Elaine (Kelly) Klindt, Julia (Richard) Orr, and Jared (Leslie) Wittwer, 24 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her dear husband, Marion Samuel Wittwer, sister Joyce (Chris) Sanders, brother Bevan (Marilyn) Haycock, and daughter-in-law Emily Nelson (Bradley) Wittwer.
Audrey's family is deeply grateful for the loving service provided by the care-givers and nurses of the Legacy House of Taylorsville and Aspire Home Health and Hospice. Her granddaughter, Emily Helm, was frequently at her side as she required more care-thank you Emily for your thoughtful companionship.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Grandeur Peak Ward, 3640 East Millstream Lane (3510 South) Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 19, at 11:00 a.m. also at the Grandeur Peak Ward building, with additional visitation preceding the funeral from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Dr.

Dear Audrey Wittwer Family,

We send our love and condolences to each of you at the passing of your dear and wonderful mother.
Patti and I will be out of town Saturday and will miss the services, but our hearts and prayers will be with you. I was just a boy when your Father brought your mother to meet my parents while on a date. Mom and Dad were so excited that Marion chose Audrey to be his wife, and look at the fantastic posterity and wonderful life experiences that followed. It brings great joy to know they are together again, forever. Much love to each of you.
