BENJAMIN GREEN Obituary

GREEN BENJAMIN WALTER Aug. 15, 1949 - Aug. 1, 2025 Benjamin Walter Green, 75, of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, in hospice care at Anne Arundel Medical Center after living with decades of lingering illness. His quiet strength, deep kindness, and quick wit remained undiminished throughout his long journey with chronic health challenges. Born on August 15, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ben was the cherished son of Florence E. Green (née Weiss) and Daniel B. Green. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania from July 23, 1969, until his honorable discharge on July 22, 1975. On March 31, 1973, Ben married the love of his life, Barbara A. Canalley. Their union of over 52 years was a testament to unwavering devotion, compassion, and quiet joy. Together, they raised a son, Charles S.A. Green, who carries forward Ben's legacy of humor, heart, and humility. Ben is also lovingly remembered by his brothers, Richard Green and Arlin Green; his devoted sister-in-law, Paula Yudenfriend Green; his many nieces and nephews - Brittany Daniels (Ross), Alison Imbergamo (Mike), Samuel Green (Annie Leiman), Jeffrey Green (Sabrina), Michael Green (Meriah Schoen), Julia Green, Danielle Rodriguez (Andrew Duncan), Brittany Rodriguez (Brandon Diez), and Lisa Green; and eight grand nieces and nephews - all of whom cherished his warmth, quiet wisdom, and gentle humor. He will be remembered most for his tremendous courage, his gracious and resilient spirit in the face of illness, and the warmth of his gentle nature. His humor and sharp wit brought lightness to even the heaviest days, and he touched many lives with his empathy and strength. In accordance with Ben's wishes and his lifelong approach to simplicity and sincerity, the family will honor his memory with a private celebration of life at the family home in Annapolis, with another gathering planned at a later date in Philadelphia. Those who wish to honor Ben's memory may do so with contributions to the Ataxia Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital, an institution whose mission was close to his heart. May his memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
