Benny Martinez Obituary

MARTINEZ, Benny Benny Martinez passed away in peace surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 6th at the age of 56. He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a talented musician and enjoyed life to the fullest. He is survived by his parents Joe and Rosie Martinez, his siblings, Joe, Phil, Steve, Mary, David, Cynthia, and Laura, and many nieces and nephews. He will truly be missed by many Crestview locals. We love and will miss you always. Jam out in heaven brother. Cook-Walden, 6100 North Lamar Blvd. Austin, TX 78752. Viewing on February 9th, 2019 at 12pm Will be laid to rest on February 10th, 2019 at 9am with reception immediately following.

I remember Benny from an early age. My dad grew up with him. Every year on my moms birthday he'd play the saxophone for. They both shared a love for Prince, and purple rain. I remember him being at our house hanging out with my parents. The night I was born, my mom missed a Hall and Oats concert. He went to the hospital to see her and played the saxophone for her there. They told me all kinds of wonderful memories. He was such a cool guy, a Crestview legend in his own accord. I can still see him riding around the Crestview neighborhood on his bike. I just know he's jammin out with Prince right now in Heaven. God bless all of y'all and again so sorry for your loss.

Benny. Where do we start? We'll miss you. You were John's best friend, like a brother to me, a member of our family. Your musical gift was amazing- so many times i saw sly and the family stone, mick jagger, santana, michael Jackson, prince and many more- it was like i was witnessing them before me. Your miles on the bike were incredible and always a nice entertaining whassup? Before it became popular. Gonna miss you!

I am so sad to read this. My friends and I have really lovely memories of Benny, as he was such a sweet and funny person. I grew up in Crestview, went to school with him, saw him around the neighborhood. A really great person.
