Betty Ledsinger Heller passed away peacefully in her home Wednesday, January 30, 2013. She was 89 years old. Mrs. Heller was born in Denison, Texas on December 6th, 1923. She met Charles Ledsinger of Memphis during World War ll when he was stationed at Perrin Air Force base in Sherman, Texas. They were married in Memphis in 1948 and had two sons, Charles A. Ledsinger Jr. and William C. Ledsinger. Mrs. Heller was an active participant in the arts and education community in Memphis. She was involved with the Brooks Museum League for many years and served a term as its president. Mrs. Heller also was involved with the Women's Exchange of Memphis and was an Exchange president. A lifetime learner, Mrs. Heller was involved with Great Books and Junior Great Books in the Memphis City Schools. She loved the performing arts, gardening, flower arranging, and sewing. Widowed in 1985, she wed Henry Heller of Memphis in 1989. Betty and Henry were proud to head an extended family which included Henry's son Robert, daughter-in-law, Edith and the late Sherry Heller. Sharing a love of travel, Betty and Henry enjoyed many years of international adventures before Henry's death. Mrs. Heller will be remembered as a loving, wise and motivating force in her family. Her sound advice as well as her great sense of humor will continue to sustain those many people who loved her. She will be terribly missed. Mrs. Heller is survived by her son, Charles Ledsinger and his wife Anita Ledsinger both of Bethesda, MD, her granddaughters Leila Grace Ledsinger and Katherine Elise Ledsinger, both of Washington, D.C., son William Ledsinger of Memphis, brother, Kenneth Clark of Longview, Texas, and son-in-law, Robert Heller and wife Edith Heller, both of Memphis. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 4 at Church of the Holy Communion, 4645 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN 38117. A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall.
