Beverly (Miss Bernhardt) was first a blessing to me as a teacher/coach in 1967-69 at St. Matthews encouraging and coaching me in sometimes hopeless game situations! We would be losing by a large margin and she would smile, sometimes laugh and say "Let's just do the best we can!"....
Later, she would introduce me to her sister, Lavonne and her brother, Armin, who would become a very important part of my life. Armin would put up with Lavonne and me and Lavonne would become my lifelong best friend and sister.
As adults, now Beverly, to me, we have kept in touch through Lavonne, Facebook and visits and she has continued to be the encourager, the example of a teacher I strived to be and most of all my dear friend and big sis - Bev, you WON! You taught us that no matter what situation we are in, we are winners in Christ!
