Janice E. Gaillard
Piedmont, SC
Janice Elkins Gaillard, 78, beloved wife of Michael Gaillard, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 23, 1947, in Columbia, SC, to the late James Davis Elkins and Martha Onita Duncan Elkins. She touched the lives of many with her kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for family. With a career as a Registered Nurse, Janice embodied compassion in her professional life, caring for countless patients with grace and dedication. Her commitment to nursing was not just a job; it was a calling that enriched her life and the lives of others.
She was an alumnus of Columbia High School, Lander College, and Greenville Technical College, where she laid the educational foundation for a remarkable career. She was also a cherished member of Galilee Baptist Church in Easley.
Janice's hobbies reflected her charismatic and nurturing spirit. She found joy in sewing, cooking, and quilting, often gifting her handmade creations to family and friends. Her love for Georgia Football brought her great joy, as she cherished every game day with enthusiasm and pride.
Her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment, however, was her family, whom she adored beyond measure. Janice is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Michael Gaillard, whose unwavering support and love filled her days with happiness. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Melissa Gaillard Durham, and husband Matthew of Abbeville, SC, and a son, Michael Scott Gaillard, and wife, Jenny of Piedmont. They have created a beautiful family that includes her cherished grandchildren: Jacob Gaillard, Caroline Manley, Savannah Lopez, Nigel Gaillard, Meredith Nelson, and Noah Durham, as well as her four great-grandchildren, who brought laughter and light into her life. She also survived by her brother, Dave Elkins, and sisters, Pam and Polly.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Barbara.
