Dear DuBose family,
I have just learned of Dr. DuBose's passing. This is a terrible loss for your family and the Athens community. He was one of the finest people and physician's I've ever known. He was a dear friend to my late parents, Doherty and Martha Joiner from the time they were in high school together until their deaths. I have been a nurse for 34 years and worked many of those years in ICU. I owe so much of my training and knowledge to Dr. DuBose-he was always 'nurse friendly' and went the extra mile for nurses. I had the pleasure of having breakfast with him this past May. We spent almost an hour catching up and talking about the past. He was also a physician's physician. I'm sure there are many, many doctors practicing today who benefitted from his care and sharing of knowledge and skills. He was a wonderful person and will be dearly missed. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
With love,
Kathy Joiner Reed

To all the DuBose family:
Amy and I offer our sincere condolences to Mary Neil, the children and grandkids and the entire family. Bo was a man of high character, morale and integrity all of the time. He was always there for our family and will be sorely missed by friends, family, colleagues and patients alike. A few times in a person's life one comes across an individual like Dr. DuBose. He was that guiding hand to lead you physically, that charismatic attitude when you were down and he loved people and loved to laugh. His family and all of those whom he touched have lost a prince today.
We love you.

I share the saddness of the DuBose family at the passing of our revered physician and friend. For years Jane and I depended on his skillful and kind attention to our ills . Words alone cannot begin to express my appreciation for all he did for us and countless others. I'm sure Jane would join me in this feeling however she too recently went to live with her heavenly Father. May our Good Lord be with you all now and in the years to come.

We shall not see his like again! I was his minister for nearly 8 years and have continued a close relation-ship since that time. I was closer to him than to my own brother, and I will miss him terribly. How blessed we were to be in his home many, many times in the past, and how blessed we have been that his family has been our family too. We cannot imagine our lives without him, but we rejoice that for him all sickness and sorrow, even death itself is past. He almost got it the way he wanted it--he saw patients up until 5:00 the day he was stricken. He got almost a "1st class ticket" as someone has said. We rejoice for him and sorrow with his family. Thank God for Bolling DuBose! John H. Roark

Dr. DuBose was such a wonderful man and a gifted physician. He cared for my mother in such a way that endeared himself to the family. He was our family internist for many years, treating us in his unique, common sense, astute and talented way. I shall miss him. He has left a beautiful legacy of character in the hearts of the many people that he touched.

Mrs. DuBose: I am Sandra Morton, daughter of the late Lucy and Tot Morton. My father was a cousin of Dr. DuBose. Please accept my sincerest sympathies on your loss. This, indeed, is a loss for many, many people.
Dr. DuBose took such good care of my precious mother, especially during her last illness.
God smiled on us when He put Dr. DuBose on this earth to take care of us. God and the angels are smiling now that the good doctor has returned home to his Father.
God bless you and all your family.

Dear Betsy and family,
You have been and will be in my prayers. I have always loved Dr DuBose; the last time I was in the office to see him we talked about how long I had been his patient - since I was 11 years old (1957). I didn't want to change doctors even though I remarried and moved to Maine. I wish I could be there with you now. He usually updated me on all his grandchildren - he was so proud. He certainly had good reason.
I know he will be missed very much by all of us whose lives he touched. I pray that God will uplift you and keep His loving arms around each of you in the days ahead.
Love, Sandra M.(Saucier) Persson

Dear Family Members-
I am so sorry that I will not be able to attend the funeral tomorrow for Uncle Bo. He was a very special man who did extraordinary things for everyone. He has always been close to my heart and always will be. Unfortunately, I am currently in Charleston South Carolina in the middle of the school week at the College of Charleston. I would love to make the trip but am unable to due to the fact that I am getting braces put on my teeth tomorrow. However, my mom, Harriet, my dad, Tom, my brother, Chip, and his wife Shannon, will all be there. I send my condolences to you all, and will be thinking and praying for everyone tomorrow. I love you all very much.

I want to share my deepest sympathy and thoughts to the entire DuBose family on the death of Dr. DuBose.
What a wonderful man we have lost. He was so special to Athens, his family, church and many who knew him.
He literally helped to save my Mother's life when she ended up in the hospital with Pneumonia many years ago. She so was taken by him and his kindnesses and trusted his words and diagnosis of her health issues, high blood pressure, etc.
Sincerely,
Susan A. Baldwin

All of Athens has suffered a great loss.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

People come in and out of our lives quietly while a few leave footprints on our hearts forever. Dr. DuBose has always been one of my favorite people. He was mine and Emmett's physician for 30 years and I worked with him through First National Bank beginning in 1973. He will always have a special place in my heart as well as the many people he helped through the years. He was devoted to his profession and unlike so many others, Dr. Dubose practiced medicine out of love for people. His care and devotion will never leave the hearts of those of us who knew and loved him.
