Not sure what to say?

I miss Brett, but I know where he is. Even though he has loved ones still here, I don't believe that he would change places with any of us. Aunt Naomi,

I worked with Brett at Liberty. I was only there a month or so, but this literally sent a shock to me when I heard about it a moment ago. Brett was a great friend for the time I knew him, and could always cheer everyone up when they were down. He will be dearly missed...

Brett will be missed by more than just family. He was always a great playmate during those awkward family reunions where 1-2 days a year was never enough time to enjoy my family. I will never forget playing "Paper, Rock, Scizzors" against Brett to sit "shotgun" in Roberts obnoxiously loud dually pickup...and losing...and getting ribbed because he won 3 times in a row. May God give his family strength and hope for as long as it takes. Rest peacefully cousin.

My sincere condolences to the whole Backus family. Particularly to you Treva.

Our hearts ache for losing a beloved nephew. We will always treasure this summer's family reunion which included Brett and his sons Stephen and Joshua. May God's comfort and peace surround us all with a difficult loss but one who was surely loved. Uncle Dave and Aunt Shirley and family, Chesapeake, VA

I am at a loss for words for the passing of an old childhood friend that, a recently as yesterday, I was trying to find and reconnect with. I have the fondest of memories of such great guy and offer my sincerest condolences to all who knew, loved and mourn his passing.

Brett was one of my best friends when I moved to town in 6th grade. He had called me out of the blue back in 2007 and we shared some truths about knowing THE LORD.Go rest high Brett,we'll see you again.
