Bruner Bosio Obituary

BOSIO Bruner B. Bosio, Sr. was called home to his Heavenly Father from this life on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the age of 90 after a brief hospitalization at Northshore Hospital. "Paw Paw", as he was affectionately called by his family, was born on January 1, 1921 in New Orleans. He is preceded in death by his parents Remy and Catherine Bosio, Sr. and Ernestine Bosio; his only sibling, Remy Bosio, Jr.; and his wife of 57 years Gloria Giuffria Bosio. He was a devoted husband and father and leaves behind four children, Dr. Bruner (Jill) Bosio, Jr. of Pascagoula, MS; Carol (Robert) Barbier of Kenner, LA; Judy (Rick) Young of Kernersville, NC ; Stella (Keith) Borges of Mandeville, LA; Eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; four special nieces and nephews (children of Raymond and Marilyn Giuffria); and Brenda Knight and his other devoted sitters, who diligently cared for him the last two years of his life. He graduated from S. J. Peters High School and from business college in downtown New Orleans. During World War II he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and was honorably discharged at the War's end. He spent his entire career at Western Electric as a purchasing agent. He was a parishioner at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in Metarie. Bruner and Gloria lived in New Orleans and later built a home in Metairie and lived there until Hurricane Katrina. After Gloria's death he lived the remainder of his life with his daughter Stella and son-in-law Keith in Mandeville. A significant part of his life was spent providing a wonderful home life with Gloria for their children. Family was of the utmost priority for his entire life, but a close second was the New Orleans Saints and the Boston Red Sox. He never thought he would witness the Saints in a Super Bowl but fate was kind to him in 2010. Paw Paw was one of the kindest and sweetest people the world would ever know. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery), 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 12:00 noon. Visitation Tuesday morning from 11:00 AM until funeral time. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. To sign the guest book, visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com.

To the Bosio Family. Although we have not known your family and Paw Paw very long, it has been an honor and privilege to have done so. Caring for Paw Paw was such an easy task because of his appreciation, respect, cooperation and his caring for those who cared for him. I am certain the family will have many fond memories to treasure of Paw Paw which will always warm your souls. He is now in God's hands, who will care for him as we have. May he rest in peace.
