Carl Marchun Obituary

Carl Marchun
March 24, 1934 - January 1, 2014

It is with great sadness the family of Carl Marchun announces his passing. Carl D. Marchun was born March 23rd, 1934, to Frank and Mary Marchun in Grand Junction, Colorado. He passed away in the home he built in Fruita, Colorado on January 1st, 2014.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Anton, John, and Raymond; his sister, Mary Lu, and daughter, Kristin Kay Marchun. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Zetta H. Marchun; son, Ralph F. Marchun (Marla); daughter, Mary Marchun (Jeff Heidrich); brothers, Joseph, and Herman Marchun, and four wonderful grandchildren, Garrett, Shania, Mary Logan Marchun and Grey F. Heidrich.
Carl served, with honor, in the US Army before returning to Grand Junction. He had a wonderful life filled with love and happiness. He was known for his hard work and was proud of the homes he built for mother and wife, the land he farmed and the children he raised with Zetta. His hobbies included puzzle making (his puzzles traveled far and wide), and the soil he turned to produce lush crops and beautiful gardens. Last but not least, his grandchildren were a priority. Papa never missed a game or school event and often traveled through the mountains just to spend time with his "baby" Grey. Carl was also known for his kindness. He would lend a hand to anyone in need and loved to make people laugh and smile with a joke.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January, 11th, 2:00 p.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Donations may be made to HopeWest Hospice, in memory of Carl.

My uncle Carl was one of the funniest people I have ever met. He always had a new joke to tell and smile on his face. I never herd him say a bad word about anybody or have a negative out look. All the family dinners, the weddings, the bar-b-q's he was there and full of life and joy.
My family will miss him greatly but always remember the great man Mr. Carl Marchun is.

We will miss seeing Carl in the pasture changing his water and checking the cows. He has been a great neighbor! Who will bring me my mail when it ends up in his box? Carl shared his puzzles and his garden with us over the years, he never sat still he was a hard worker and a very kind person. We will miss you very much! With Love Jim, Michele, Jennifer and J.W.

We loved Carl very much. He was like a grandfather to my kids. Stephaine, Katie and Matt are very saddened to know Carl will not be in the world any more making people laugh. For years he helped make the Colorado Welcome Center in Fruita the success it was. He worked as a counselor and moved brochures from storage to the center every week.

My prayers and thoughts are with Zetta and family and we were so blessed to have known him all these years.
