Carl Malcolm Smart Sr., 83, of Hildebran, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at his home, surrounded by family.
Born Aug. 28, 1938, in Cleveland County, Carl was the son of the late William and Carrie Herman Smart. Carl was a dirt track racer all over the southeast and he enjoyed golfing and fishing. He loved his family most of all and he will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Lee Smart and Paul L. Smart; and a sister, Frances M. Willis.
Carl is survived by his wife of 36 years, Wanda Smart; three sons, Marty Revis and wife, Karen, Steve Smart and Kim Sigmon, Carl Smart Jr. and fiancée, Suzanna Maxwell; two grandchildren, Amber Turk and Sierra Smart; and two great-grandchildren, Levi Turk and Ethan Turk.
A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m., at Catawba Funeral Home, with Pastor Rocky Reese officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Foundation in Carl's name.
