Charles Doss Obituary

GREENSBORO CHARLES JULIAN DOSS, 93, PASSED AWAY Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Blumenthal Jewish Home. He was born 1921 in Reidsville NC.A celebration of Charles' Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27401. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.Charles graduated from Curry High School, Greensboro in 1940, where he went to work delivering for Guilford Dairy. He joined the United States Army Oct. 1942 and was assigned to the Medical Detachment Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion.He was involved in battles and campaigns during World War II in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, Central Europe, where he was awarded the Eamet Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. After his service he went to work with Loewenstein-Atkinson A.I.A., Architects as a Draftsman, where he worked for 40+ years. Charles loved the outdoors, Nascar, chocolate and ice cream.Mr. Doss was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, brother; Robert and son Terry. He is survived by his brother; Ralph, son; Tim, daughter-in law Cecilia; grandchildren, Shannon and husband Howard Tallent, Courtney and John and his great granddaughter, Alexis.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
