Charles R. Fortun, 85, of Danielsville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospice - Lower Saucon Township, with his wife, Evelyn, by his side. They shared 63 beautiful years of marriage, creating a lifetime of cherished memories together.
Born in Fountain Hill, Charles was the oldest son of the late Charles and Pauline (Polisky) Fortun. He was a proud graduate of Liberty High School and Vo-Tech, Class of 1957.
Charles dedicated his life to his family and his country, serving honorably in the U.S. Navy for nine years, achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class. Following his Navy service, he worked as a machinist at Mack Trucks in Allentown and Macungie for 30 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bath. Charles enjoyed fishing, golfing, creating stained glass art, coaching baseball, and cheering for the Phillies, Eagles, and Penn State football. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren: Jarrett, Calle, Tara, Cole, Dane, and Matthew.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn, and their three children: Richard Fortun (Kathleen) of White Lake, MI, Sonya Seaman (Mark) of Danielsville, PA and Shawn Fortun (Lynn) of Troy, TX. He leaves behind six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: David Fortun (Donna) of Cherryville, Gary Fortun of Virginia, and Chester Fortun of Massachusetts, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 31, 2025, at GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2165 Community Drive, Bath, PA 18014. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park.
