Charles “Chuck” Haight Spratt stepped into heaven on Sunday, October 5th, 2025, while surrounded by his family at his home in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He was born on April 5th, 1948, to James “Jack” Bishop Spratt and Rosalie Haight Spratt. Chuck lived a very full life growing up in New Orleans, Graduating High School from Riverside Military Academy, achieving his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Southeastern Louisiana University and his Master’s Degree in Communications from the University of Mississippi “Ole Miss”. He served in the Air Force as an air traffic controller in Vietnam.
On August 10, 1974, he married the love of is life Judith Diane Gill. His first role out of college was teaching at Wichita State University and hosting their first radio station KMUW. He went on to work at Cessna where he traveled around the world documenting their aircraft in action and then Louisiana Power and Light Company (Entergy) where he retired and has been enjoying watching his grandson’s grow up ever since. He was passionate about music and was an extremely accomplished guitarist. In retirement, he explored the United States by car or train often toting one of the grandsons along for the ride. To know him was to love him as he never met a stranger and always had the best smile on his face.
Chuck is survived by his brother, Robert Akers Spratt; his daughter, Catherine Spratt Johnston; and four amazing grandsons, Mason Bradley Spratt, Nathan Garrett Johnston, Benjamin Charles Johnston and Brady Paul Johnston.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rosalie and Jack; and his wife Judith Gill Spratt.
