It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Christian Gallery.
Chris was a truly unique soul. We feel so deeply loved and held by the Universe to have had him in our lives.
Chris had a profoundly spiritual connection with the Earth and nature. After marrying the love of his life, Lucy Snyder, they moved to Yosemite National Park. Here he raised his children, Rebecca and Owen, and served as a physician for the next 7 years.
The family later moved to Merced, where Chris proceeded to finish his medical residency and eventually opened his own medical practice. With the help of his cherished family medical staff, he lovingly and skillfully served the community for the next 20 years. Chris had a special bond with many of his patients, whom he deeply cared for.
Chris was a devoted gym goer, meeting many of his kindred brothers there over the years. He loved to play guitar in the evenings and ride his bike along the beautiful county roads in the mornings. He served as a father figure, mentor, and deep friend to so many that knew him. He was fiercely devoted to his family, his wife, children, grandchildren, his 5 siblings, and his friends.
Christian will be remembered for his gracious kindness and generosity of spirit, his empathy, his joy and laughter, his deep sensitivity to the world and his love for so much of humanity.
For the last 6 months, Chris battled with the sudden onset of this horrific disease - depression. Now, with its cruel culmination, we believe he is finally in a place of peace with the Universe, which he so deeply sought as a goal in life. We will miss him more than words can express, and know that he is with us always.

I knew Dr. Gallery when he was a consulting physician for the clients at Central Valley Regional Center in Merced. He was a thoughtful and caring man. I valued his medical expertise on many cases. I will always remember him and his contributions. Love to his family and sweet peace to Dr. Gallery.

I grew up with the Gallery family since first grade, and lived around the corner from them in mid town sacramento, I was best friends with his brother Kevin. I spent many days at his families house. We went to St Francis and Christian brothers together, i have a lot of great memories. The last time I saw Chris was at his brother Kevins memorial in 1991. I was very shocked to hear of the passing of Chris. My condolences to his family. RIP Chris

I was a patient of Dr Gallery for many years and I and my wife who was also a patient are deeply saddened to hear of Dr Gallery’s passing. I owe my life to Dr Gallery for the care he provided to me and how he found that I needed to change my lifestyle in how I needed to take better care of myself with the medications that he prescribed for me. He was always a good listener and I felt he truly cared for his patients. He will truely be missed by our family.

I first met Dr. Gallery when he worked for Dr. Baudino. When he started his own practice, I followed him and remained his patient until his death. Although I never interacted with him outside of his office, I always felt a strong bond between us. We were close in age and shared similar interests and life experiences. His skill as a doctor was of the highest level, but he was also a very down-to-earth human being with a beautiful soul. I am so appreciative of the wonderful care he gave me and the insightful conversations we shared over 20 plus years. I am devastated by the loss of this truly great man and wish I could of helped him in his time of need as he did for me so many times. My deepest sympathies to his family and staff. The impact he made on my life, as well as many others, will not be forgotten.

What a blow to hear about the passing of Dr. Gallery. I only saw him twice as a new resident of Merced. He had a powerful presence and a deep, caring manner. This is a true loss to the community. May his spirit be lifted in peace among all the beauty of nature.

I'm terribly sadden to hear of the passing of Dr. Gallery. He, and Dr. David have been our family providers for over 15 years. Dr. Gallery was the Dr. I would go to whenever I had very serious medical concerns because I trusted him so much. He was one of the best Doctor I've ever had. I will forever love and miss him. A bright light dimmed on the planet, and in our lives, last week. The beauty, spiritual grace and talent embodied in the presence, personality and soul of Chris Gallery is hard to define in words. For me, the joy of knowing this incredible spirit began on the first day of first grade at St. Francis Elementary School in Sacramento, CA. We were classmates and became fast friends. Little did I know then, that I would have the gift of becoming a lifelong extended member of his family, and that our lives would be connected, re-connected and intertwined over decades of joy and friendship. I share this sentiment today because Chris' life mattered. It mattered for his family which I consider part of my family, for the community of people who knew and loved him in Yosemite, Merced, Hawaii and the many places he traveled, for his patients, for his beautiful wife and children and for all who were fortunate enough to spend time with him, including me. May God bless you Christian, now and always. Thank you for reminding us of what is good and true and beautiful in the world.

Christian and I were in the same medical school class at UC San Diego in the mid- to late 1980s. As a medical student, Christian was known for his benevolence, empathy and wisdom. He had an endearing smile, gentle nature, and always had a kind word to say. It is clear from reading the comments of his patients that he maintained those gifts throughout his many decades of caring for others as a physician. Thank you, Christian, for making life just a little bit better for all those you met along your journey.

My husband and I were patients of Dr. Gallery for over 20 years. We were shocked and saddened beyond measure to learn of his death. His death is not just a personal loss to us, who were the beneficiaries of his care and medical stewardship, but it is a loss to the community he served so long and so well. It is heart-rending to learn of his suffering these past months, and as bereft as we ourselves are, we can only imagine how his loss must affect his family, his friends, and his colleagues. I wish I could do or say something to heal those hearts, as I want to heal my own. Lacking that, I can only extend my sincere sympathy on his passing.

Dr. Gallery was a great doctor as well as a kind soul. His care for humanity was a genuine display of the empathic connection to the needs of his patients. I had been going to Dr. G. for some time when I mentioned it to my brother-in-law, Dr. David Araujo. David told me that Dr. G. had been one of his resident's & that Chris was a very good doctor. What better recommendation can you get!? At one point I remember telling Dr. G. that I hoped he wouldn't move or retire too soon because he was a great doc. His care for humanity transcends our earthly life & I pray that I am one day fortunate enough to see him in that big, beautiful, peaceful place. He will greet new people who walk thru the gates with his warm smile & will be the heavenly soul wearing Birkenstock's.
