Darlene C. Hebert

Darlene C. Hebert, 65, of Walker, Louisiana, went to join Jesus in His heavenly kingdom on Monday, December 24, 2012. She was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on January 10, 1947. She was a loving, caring, and sympathetic mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a faithful servant of God, the Church and the Community. She graduated on the Dean's List from Houston Baptist College in Music Education in 1971. She served the community's children as an elementary, music teacher for over 35 years, 26 of those in East Baton Rouge Parish, finally retiring in 2006. She had a great love for playing the piano, singing and teaching others to do the same. She loved being with her family and friends, but she considered life "golden" when she was with her grandkids. She is survived by her son, Stephen Hebert and wife Stephanie; her daughter, Donna Hebert; two brothers, Glenn and Will Cortez; one sister, Marceline Cortez; and her mother, Genevieve Cortez. Her 5 grandkids are listed in order of birth: Trevor, Samantha, Andrew, Trenton and Rhett. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilfred E. Cortez, Sr. Visitation is planned at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., beginning Friday evening from 5-9 p.m. and again on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. The funeral service will be led by Pastor Jeff Cambre of Cross Way Church in Walker, Louisiana.
