David Eberling Obituary

David Perschell Eberling

Nashville, TN

David Perschel Eberling, age 86, died April 18, 2015, at The Meadows in Bellevue.

He was the son of the late Dr. Ernest Jacob Eberling and Elsie Perschel Eberling. The youngest of four children, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. E. W. Eberling, and sisters, Constance Eberling and Joy Eberling.

David lived most of his life in the West End-Bowling neighborhood. He was a gentle man who loved nature and all animals. He often quoted his Hillsboro High School biology teacher, Mrs. George Mayfield, who reminded her students, "Eyes have you, but you see not."

David is survived by former wife May Dean Eberling, who has seen to his care in his last years of poor health. His dear friends Elisha and Lela Miller also have been very special for many years. He is survived by a niece, Gayle Pierce (Don) of Arizona, and a nephew, E. W. Eberling, Jr., of Oregon.

Special thanks go to the caring and professional staff at The Meadows.

He was a member of West End United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. John Feldhacker of WEUMC.

I worked with Dave in the Tennessee Division of Water Quality Control in the mid-late 1970s when I was beginning my career in state government. He was a gentle man and a fun co-worker to be around. Thanks for the many great memories. Prayers go out to his family and friends who will miss him dearly.
