I met Dr. Isbell many many years ago, 2008. I knew immediately that I had met a wonderful doctor and friend. When I would visit the office, he would always ask me about my other health issues and my MS. We would laugh and talk about what was current and how expensive my medication was. Only then did we get to my heart issues. He never changed. And I considered him an amazing doctor. When he did my imaging, he would walk me through what he was doing on each step. When I heard that he had passed, I was absolutely shocked. And instantly saddened. His kids lost their daddy. And I just immediately prayed for his family. I miss him. He was 1 in a million. I just pray that he is resting in peace.

Oh No! I just learned of his passing as I was gonna try to make an appointment with him! He had been my cardiologist for at least 12 years, through 2 heart attacks and the placement of 4 stents. He always cared for me with his great good humor and his honest straight forward diagnoses and treatments. I will truly miss him!! I lost my husband just a few weeks ago and he had also been a huge fan of Dr Isbell. Gosh - going to the cardiology clinic just will never be the same. I will forever remember his wonderful smile, and how well he took care of me.

I offer my deepest condolences to the Isbell Family for their tremendous loss. As a patient since 2012, I will remember Dr. David Isabel as one of the best, most caring, and friendly physicians have ever known. His genuinely warm and attentive healthcare manner was always inspiring and he positively motivated me to successfully improve my physical heart and overall health. God knows my life will continue to be improved along with my spiritual heart because of Dr.Isbel´s personal influence. Although I shared only brief moments with Dr. Isbel, I will always remember his infectious smiles which were always uplifting and made my day better. I truly believe Dr. Isbel´s best-prescribed medicine was his light-hearted humor and impressionable personality. He must be one of God´s favorite Angels in Heaven.

I was shocked and heartbroken to learn about the passing of Dr. Isbell. He was not only my heart doctor but the doctor for all of my family. I have, and will likely never again meet anyone who such is a wonderful and caring person. My prayers are with the Isbell family and the Prisma Cardiology Department. My heart is broken and my favorite heart doctor is no longer here to fix it. Thank You Dr. Isbell for all you have done and keeping me in check when it came to my heart. You will forever be missed.

Dr. David Isbell was called to the ER to see me in the spring of 2008. I had a cardiologist for the first time. But I quickly learned he wasn´t just my doctor, he was my friend. He would come in and jump up on the end of the exam table and say what´s up? He would then want to know what was happening with my MS before we talked about the heart. He did recommendations to other patients based on my journey. I can´t believe I will never see him do that again. My condolences and prayers go to Dr. Isbell´s sons and the rest of his family. He will be missed. Rest in Peace my friend. I will continue my fight and remember your kind words.

What a shocking and sad news! My 99 year old mom and I supposed to see Dr. Isbell tomorrow morning!! My heart is broken. Both of us have been seeing him for last 8 years and he made us feel so much better each time visiting him. He was a loving, funny and truthful person and a real professional who patients could definitely depend on. We need more doctors like him and he will be forever missed. Our prayers to his family and friends.

September 26, 2023

This is such devastating news. I met Dr. Isbell in 2014 when I relocated to the Columbia, SC area from Michigan. I was newly diagnosed with an Anomalous of my Heart while living in Michigan but no treatment plan because I was told the condition was so rare that 1 out of 10,000 people have it.
Who would have thought that Columbia Heart (thanks to Dr. Isbell and Dr. Martin the surgeon) would be the reason that I am alive today? The day of my visit I was riddled with anxiety and to be honest, scared of what this new Cardiologist was going to tell me about my condition.
As tears were streaming down my face, Dr. Isbell sat next to me and he held my hand, telling me that we can help you. He also added that we do 19-20 of those surgeries daily. The shock and relief I felt, words could not express. With a side hug, I knew I was in great hands. He will definitely be missed; his bedside manner should be a model taught in medical school. My prayers go out to his family; gone too soon, RIP.

After being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation about 20 years ago, I became a patient of Columbia Heart. The doctor I was seeing left the practice, and I was told I would be seeing Dr. David Isbell who was new at Columbia Heart. From the beginning I knew he was the right fit for me. Over the many years he treated my flip-flopping heart, he became not only my doctor but also my friend. I will never forget one visit when I was feeling very discouraged. Dr. Isbell could sense this, so he pulled up a chair, sat down beside me and told me to talk to him. I ended up becoming a patient of a more advanced electrophysiologist and left my friend David Isbell but never forgot how much he genuinely cared for me as one of his patients. I just found out today that David is now in his Forever Home, and my heart is broken for his family, his patients, and his friends who lost this dear man far too soon. To say he will be sorely missed does not begin to describe the loss.
