March 1, 1922 - November 17, 2018 David M. Shaby passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 96, and now joins his loving wife, Doris. He is survived by his son, John Shaby (Amparo) and David Shaby (Natalie) and 5 grandchildren, John, Jeffrey, Krystal, Tanya and David Michael Shaby and 2 great-grandchildren, Alysen and Kaylee Shaby. Born in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1922, David immigrated to the US in 1939. He and his wife, Doris, moved to Southern California in 1950 where he began his lifelong career as a realtor and general contractor. He was the Consul General of the Dominican Republic from 1973-1991 and Consul Emeritus of the Los Angeles Consular Corps. David sat on the LA Sheriff's Youth Foundation advisory board. As an avid supporter of law enforcement, David was honored with the Peace Officers Association of Los Angeles County with the Presidents Award in 2016, their highest honor.

A man who will be missed by his family, friends and community. He left a legacy of goodness. And he showed others how to live a good life and how to treat others. Rest in peace.
