David Starcher Obituary

David L. Starcher Sr., 69, of Elizabethtown, went to Heaven to be with Jesus on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 11, 1943, in Clarksburg, W.Va., to Leroy and Mildred Starcher. He graduated from Fort Knox High School and Indiana University. He was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church for 30 years where he worked with the Baptist Builders. He worked for Vermont American Corporation for 34 years and was president and general manager of Magna Division. After retirement he went back to work as controller for Fischbach USA in Elizabethtown and he retired from there in 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Col. Leroy and Mildred Starcher; a brother, Robert Starcher; a son-in-law, Bryan Miller; and a grand-daughter, Hope Starcher.

He was the beloved husband and best friend of Donna for 50 years. He was the best daddy in the world to David and Brettney Starcher of Leitchfield, Laura and Jeff Goodman of Elizabethtown, Ginny and Marcus Ball of Eastview and Vicki Starcher of Leitch-field.

He was papaw and hero to 21 grandchildren, Diana, Keith, Trace and Audrey Hawkins, Tori, Josie, Davey, Colton and Abie Starcher, Josh, Jacob and Jordan Harris, Jeffrey, Stanley, Casey, Lily and Jake Goodman, Sherry and Marcus Ball, and Celia Sue and Wesley Miller.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Severns Valley Baptist Church with Bill Taylor officiating.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown and continues at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

It was David's wish that memorial contributions be made to Severns Valley Baptist Church's Building Fund, Kosair Children's Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice in his memory.
