DEWEY R. TEDDER AUG. 1, 1937 - FEB. 1, 2014 GREENSBORO Dewey R. Tedder of Greensboro, NC and Venice, Florida died Saturday February 1, 2014 after a short illness. He was born in Columbus County, North Carolina. He graduated from N.C. State University, and joined the management team of Lorillard Tobacco Co. of New York in 1960. In 1970 he moved to Greensboro, NC where, at age 34 he became the company's youngest vice president. He was promoted to vice president, Leaf Operations in 1971. From 1999 to 2002, he served as senior executive vice president of Operations and Technology. At a time when the county and city school system were being merged, he was a member for 10 years, of the Guilford County School Board which was overseeing the transition. He is survived by his wife, Dora, sons, Dr. Mark (Gina) Tedder of Brentwood, TN and Dr. Stephen (Robin) Tedder of Smyrna, GA, and grandchildren, Christopher (Kristen) Tedder, Michelle Tedder, Stephen Tedder, Jackson Tedder and Cameron Tedder. He is further survived sisters, Betty Sasser of Elizabetown, NC and Lois Marie Davis of Lumberton, NC. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Jamestown United Methodist Church conducted by the Reverend Chris Thore. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice, Jamestown United Methodist Church, 403 E. Main St., Jamestown, NC 27282 or Tidewell Hospice, Inc. 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL, 34238 Arrangements are being handled by the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel.
