Donald Pullen Obituary

Donald R. Pullen, Sr.

Donald R. Pullen, Sr passed away on November 11, 2020. He was born October 16, 1939 in Seminole Oklahoma to Leon Bennett Pullen and Jesse Marie Cundiff.

The family returned to Dallas where he lived until moving to Lubbock at the age 14. Don graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Junior College at New Mexico Military Institute earning an associate degree with honors. He then continued higher education at Texas Tech University earning a BBA in 1962. Upon graduation Don went directly into the United States Army obtaining the rank of Captain while serving in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division (the Big Red One). He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star.

Don returned to Dallas in 1968 to assist in the family business and joined Republic National Bank in 1969. Don stayed in banking until 1977 when he moved to El Paso. With an entrepreneurial spirit he built the first commercial truck wash in El Paso. In 1982 he built Incredibles Lounge which he owned for the next 24 years, selling in 2006.

Don was a lifelong and passionate Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed traveling but only if he could coordinate with game schedules. Don was a lover of animals and a staunch supporter of the El Paso Humane Society. He enjoyed brewing his "special" blend of nectar, drawing huge gatherings of hummingbirds each year. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American legion. He was a gruff and tough man, with a big personality and a huge heart. He loved having fun and punctuated every gathering with quick wit, a great sense of humor and amazing brisket. He was loyal and caring to those he loved.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and sister Shirley Ann.

He is survived by his wife Debbi, brother Gary, son Donald, Jr, granddaughter Brittany, great grandson Theodore, stepdaughter Melanie, granddaughter Shelbie, and many loving family members and extended family.

There will be a private interment at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Services with full military honors and a celebration of life will be held when times permit. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Humane Society of El Paso @ hselpaso.org

I am so very sorry for your loss. I knew him years ago and he seemed to be a shy, quiet guy. I know you will miss him.
