GOODMAN, Dorothy (Kaplan) "Dotty" A vibrant and loving matriarch, passed away on February 11, 2025, at the age of 92. She was the devoted daughter of the late Simon & Marion (Rubin) Kaplan. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Goodman, with whom she shared a deep and lasting bond. Dotty was a cherished mother to Peter Goodman, Amy Sylvetsky (Barry), and Bob Goodman (Jayne Lipman), as well as a beloved former mother-in-law to Jill Goodman. She took immense pride in her family and was an adored grandmother to Lindsay, Jody, Julie, Lauren, Adina, Noah and Mira. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren Simon, Mia, Haley, and Jacob, who brought her endless joy. A loving sister to David Kaplan and part of a large, connected family of cousins and nephews, Dotty's life was enriched by her relationships to her family. Dotty's was an engaging presence, always active and involved in the lives of her family right up to her final days. She loved to organize and celebrate family milestones, and hers was truly the glue that kept her loved ones closely connected. Dotty had a zest for life and enjoyed working in several businesses, attending the ballet and opera, and spending time with friends and relatives. Known for her unpretentious and straightforward nature, she was generous and caring, and always first to lend a helping hand to those in need. Dotty was close friends with my parents, Bob and Jackie. I loved Dottie´s spirit and she was such a help and support for my mother when my mom suffered from Alzheimer´s. Dottie was always checking on her and helping me to advocate for her care. I´m so sorry to hear of her passing. My family and I loved her very much.

I am Gloria and Saul Rubin's daughter and i must say i loved talking to Dotty when ever i was with Gloria over the past decade as they spoke daily and relied on each other as a sounding board. Dotty was very smart, always clear headed and spoke in a way that got to the bottom line of whatever they discussed. They loved playing bridge, going to the opera, going out to dinner, celebrating birthdays, talking about politics and especially discussing movies and books. Gloria (and I) relied on Dotty's book recommendations for our next good read.
Years ago i remember the two couples going out and all four of them enjoyed each other's company. Jimmy and Saul would giggle like teenagers and share stories. they played golf and bridge together had many dinners and events and shared joy when they were together.
I know Gloria is already missing their daily calls. Wishing all of you peace of mind and send our heart felt condolences. Audrey and Scott Nathan
