I wore his album out..."Bird's Nest on the Ground!" He possessed such a wonderful feel for music and humanity. His vocals are just plain cool. Sad that he is gone, yet at least we have his recorded music. Doyle ll, simply the best!

Our sincerest condolences and sympathies to all of the Bramhall family.
I'm thankful for the time we spent with Doyle and his uncle Jack Bramhall one evening some years ago in Addison after his performance. The joy, the words and the smile that Doyle gave Jack and us said volumes about his good-heartedness.
The World gives thanks to this great and soulful man, who many years ago supported and inspired a young fledgling guitar player (Stevie Ray Vaughn). They are now both together in heaven. Your music will continue to touch the hearts of many generations, as it has touched all of us.
The Jones family.

I saw Doyle in my hometown of Lafayette, LA performing with his friend CC Adcock at a Louisiana Crossroads performance and was completely swept away. I had a 2nd opportunity to see him at the legendary Grant Street Dancehall a few months after the forementioned performance. I had followed Doyle's music both online and through cd's after learning of him several years ago through his collaboration with SRV. Definetly one of the GREATS! Glad I had the chance to see him live.

It seems as though we have lost so many of the "greats" that made Austin a World famous venue for musicians everywhere. Doyle Sr. will be missed though always remembered by those of us that love Austin and the magical feel that is Austin. Doyle should have a statue along side Stevie Ray, in a way that would show them reflecting on how cool Austin used to be before all the outsiders moved into the high rise condo's and started complaining about the "noise" that used to be loved by one and all. Clifford is most likely introcing a new member to the Heavanly Blues Band..gonna be some good sounds tonight! RIP Doyle.

To Doyles' family:
I know that words are just not enough at a time like this, but still, I had to drop a line to you.
it has been decades since I have seen Doyle Sr. We used to have some great times as teenagers in Irving long before he became the great vocalist singer.
But even then, for a "white guy", he was totally mind blowing when he sang! Soul for days in that voice!
He receive me as a friend though I am 20 times darker in color, it did not matter to Doyle in those days.
It is interesting to read in all the reviews, but the one thing that stands out, is about him being kind and gentle.
How often does anyone read such words today? But that was Doyle to me. Even after all these decades, the one dominant thing I remember of him: GENTLE AND KIND.
My prayers are with you.

To Big Doyle's family, relatives and friends. Thank you for sharing Doyle with all of us while he was on this earth, what a gifted musician. I only met Doyle a couple of times, saw him play several, but was always amazed at how gentle and kind of a man he was. There is no doubt his musical talents rubbed off on many, lets hope his kindness does as well.
You will be sorely missed on earth but welcomed with open arms in heaven.
Peace to all who were close to Doyle.

I remember like it was yesterday visiting the Bramhall home in Irving to listen to Ronnie play blues and jazz records. We were classmates and about 17-18 at the time. RIP Doyle Sr, from a friend that knew Dale & Doyle going back to Youth Baseball at the Irving River-bottoms, Bowie Jr High & Irving High. I can still hear Doyle singing Kansas City in 1967 on the Sanger Harris Parking lot winning the Battle of the Bands. Who knew this was a launching pad & Doyle's music would touch so many. A talent too large to be defined. We love you Brother and may DBII continue this legacy as he has done so well to date.
Deepest condolences to the Bramhall Family and may God offer you peace at this time of loss.

Rest well, Doyle. Those great days of music inspiration that came from the Beatles/Rolling Stones era during the 1963-1967 years at Irving High School can't be replaced. Lots of fine memories as we all searched for our futures. You and Frank Beard went on to play drums in Rock n' Roll and I went into radio to play Rock n' Roll records, never quite having enough money to buy a set of drums, but always admiring your and Frank's careers and playing a few of your songs along the way at KFJZ 1270. Barbara, Doyle II, Georgia. I am so sorry for your loss. I met Doyle in about 1977 in Houston. in the early ZZ Top days with Bill Hamm and Lone Wolf. He was living in Spring Branch. When I first heard Doyle Bramhall's music, I loved it. I wasn't surprised to learn that he had been a big influence on SRV, but something about his music was so calm and centered, so knowing. When I read a little about his life journey, it all made sense. He didn't need to be famous or recognized, he knew who he was, he made wonderful music and was obviously a wonderful person, by reading all of these posts. He is gone too soon, but he left a wonderful legacy of music, family, love and friendship. One can't ask for more in this earthly existence. My deepest sympathies to the Bramhall family.
