Dustin was always a kind, friendly child who knew the meaning of friendship even at a young age. He was our sons companion at our house while his Mom and Dad were at work, they were inseparable.

Doc, we crossed paths but briefly in Arizona all those years ago. Met you at a critical juncture in my life, I was finishing up high school and EMT training and I think about the few days we spent hanging out by the bonfire often. Appreciate and respect the experiences you shared with me so much. They were important when it came time for me to pick a career. Sorry to say I didn't wind up becoming a paramedic, but our time together is burned into my memory nonetheless. Reflecting on our brief interaction and the life experiences you shared has made me a gentler and (I hope) wiser man. Hope you're resting in peace. Thanks for everything.

Every year at this time we experience the heartache of knowing that you are no longer with us, but we continue to pray for your soul and hope you experience the peace and comfort that you could not achieve on earth. To the Wernli family,
I am so unbelievably sorry for your loss. Dustin was a little brother I never had. I wished I could have been a better friend, role model, and was able to reach out to him. Dan and Dino, you both are still role models to me and I love and miss you both. Dan, I still talk about you often. I miss hanging at the house, going to dinners, going 4 wheelin', swimming, and cycling near the runway at DMAFB. My prayers will be with you all. I will always have fond memories and be grateful of the time I spent with your family...especially Dustin.

Our condolences to the Wernli family, we are so so sorry for the worlds loss of Dustin. I was lucky enough to know Dustin as a baby until he was 3yrs old. He and my son grew up together in Lemoore, CA at our house where Dino or Dan would drop him off on their way to work. My son recounts many happy play hours with Dustin and even at his early age he was very protecting of my son when around other children. He was more than a child I was baby sitting, he became a part of our family. He and my son were always happy to greet my husband when he came home from work and the two of them together were always able to cheer up the day. We will miss him but are confident that God will reward him for his many good works while he was with us here on earth.

To Dan, Dino, and family: We met Dustin in 2001 at Pima College, training him to be an EMT. He was an exceptional student and his excitement about his future was infectious. Over time we became friends and he even attended our wedding. We consider him our adopted little brother.
To our "Tadpole" (Dustin): We will miss you dearly. You were a smart, brave, noble, and wonderful person. You added something to our lives. Thank you for letting us be a part of yours.
