Staff Sergeant Dylan Kai Rousseau, age 27, stationed, Altus Air Force Base, Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in Altus.
Born on March 7th 1994 at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso Texas, he grew up in Gold Bar, Washington.
Staff Sergeant Dylan K. Rousseau was an Air Force Veteran who entered the Service in 2012. After graduating the Louis F. Garland Fire Academy at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas he was assigned to the 18th Civil Engineer Squadron, Kadena Air Base Japan as a Fire Fighter. Following a three year tour in Japan, he was assigned to the 97th Civil Engineer Squadron at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma. He held several duty position at the Fire and Emergency Services flight including Fire fighter, Emergency Communications Dispatcher, Fire Protection Driver Operator and Lead Fire Fighter. During his tenure at Altus he deployed in support of operation INHERENT RESOLVE to an undisclosed location in Jordan as a Fire Protection Driver Operator. Additionally, he had the distinguished honor of serving on the Base Honor Guard. His awards include the Air Force Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Global war on Terrorism Service Medal.
He is survived by his mother, Kimberly J. Smith; father, Michael Rousseau; sister, Windsor Mergenthaler; brothers Jaydon Rousseau, Michael Rousseau,Matthew Ahlquist and Skyler Rousseau Step Father; David Mergenthaler.
A funeral service celebrating Dylan's life will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 1PM at Purdy & Kerr with Dawson Funeral Home, 409 W. Main St., Monroe, WA.

To the family of SSgt. Dylan Rousseau,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. Dylan sounds like a very involved young man who loved his family and country. I thank him for his service. I am sorry for your loss.
My husband and I were married at the Altus Air Force Base Chapel 12 February 1971.
