1928 - 2018
Edward E. McCauley, 90, of Columbus passed away on April 13, 2018 at Kobacker House. Born in Columbus on March 20, 1928 to the late Henry and Blanche Marcella (Boxheimer) McCauley, he was also preceded in death by his wife Louise McCauley in September 2017, grandson Patrick McCauley and son-in-law Jerry Garriott. He met the love of his life, Louise, in 1947 while she was working in men's clothing at Lazarus. He ventured in to purchase shirts and ties for his first day at the Huntington National Bank. This would be the start of a 38 year career and 69 year marriage, both of which he was very proud. Additionally, he worked at Beulah Park for 50 consecutive years, was an amateur baseball, softball and basketball player, and was all around competitive, enjoying a friendly wager, even with his family, just to keep things fun. He is survived by children Edward "Eddie" (Susan) McCauley, Jr., Louanne (Jim) Buoni, Susan Garriott, David (Joyce) McCauley and Tina Swisher; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Friends may visit from 11AM-12PM Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, where a funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 12PM. Interment will follow at Mifflin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus 43214. To leave online condolences visit www.schoedinger.com.

I first met Eddie back in 1957 when starting to work at the Huntington Bank. He gave me a free pass to Beulah Park one Saturday. Eddie was truly my race track mentor. That was the beginning of a 61 year friendship with many one day trips out of town to other nearby tracks. Eddie, those were fun days that can never be forgotten. THANKS!! for those great memories!!
