Edward RUDZINSKI Obituary
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, retiring with the rank of Major. After retirement he was the Tradoc Ammunition Manager at Fort Monroe. He was a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 31 years, Barbara in 2007.
He is survived by his son, Edward "Mike" Rudzinski II; brothers, John and Robert.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. at the St. Mary's School Cafeteria, 14 N Willard Ave., in Hampton.

It was my honor to have known Ed for some 20 years. He was a fine man & I will miss his presence at the Dog Show functions. Often I would talk with him about various topics. Ed ran a good race and did well by all he came into contact with. There was never a truer, just, honest and or professional person. We should all strive to be as solid and convicted as he. No one told it like it was better than Ed. I could always count on his honesty; I appreciated his candor; and I respected his judgment. He leaves behind a legacy of true professionalism, a dedication to duty that is hard to find, and countless friends and colleagues. To say he will be missed by many is a colossal understatement. Michael , your father was a great person and good friend. His efforts were impressive and he touched many people. The powder puff derbies at Fentress were fond memories. He included everyone and made time for all. We all look back on our own lives and think who made it wonderful and Ed Rudzenski made mine better. I believe that anyone who ever met Ed would agree that he was probably one of the friendliest people that you could possibly meet. While the time that I spent working with you in TRADOC was short, the knowledge that you passed along was immense. I got an opportunity to meet Ed and his crew in the summer of 2006, during a 30 day TDY. During my time at TRADOC I noticed how many people and organizations would contact him for "the right answer". While we talked, I observed and learned about many things at the TRADOC level of ammunition...thank you Ed!
I feel privileged to have had a recent encounter with Ed this summer at Rock Island. Even though he did not remember me at first, his memory quickly returned to our little time in an expansive life of love, happiness, compassion and professionalism. He filled me in on the whereabouts of the others in his office at time and what was happening in their lives. He always cared about those he had an opportunity to share time with. And, he knows we ALL cared about him and always will!

My sincere condolences to the Rudzinski family, I have only known Ed for 9 years. But I could tell from my first visit with him at work that he was a genuine, and that any time that I would come to talk to him, I would get the best answer to my question. I would also get a good joke before I left his area. Ed was not just an expert; Ed was professional about everything he did for our organization.

I work at the Fort Lee ASP, have also worked at Fort Eustis ASP, have been in the ammo field for many years. I met Ed many times over the years at both ASP's and came to respect him as a friend and a vast source of knowledge. I learned many things from him that I use to this day. He was always ready to answer questions and provide valuable advice which I still remember. My condolences to his family, we have all lost a great family member and dear friend.
