Elizabeth Erney Obituary

Elizabeth Rita Kuss Erney , born August 18, 1931 in Bethlehem, PA. returned to our Lord on Wednesday November 30, 2011. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Robert Charles Erney and their three daughters, Jill and husband David Kerr, Patricia and her husband William Baker, Lynn Larson and grandchildren: Ian Alex and Taylor Kerr, Mark and Kyle Mangum, John Boone and Samantha Baker. Brothers Edward and wife Lina, and Steven and wife Fanci, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In the end there is one dance you do alone, may she stay forever young and forever strong. She was independent and embraced life until the moment she passed. Mom was a championship ballroom dancer, member of the Garden Club and active at the gym, world traveler, member of the Book Club and wonderful friend to all. With dancing feet and hardworking hands God must have looked down upon her and said, "it is time to come to home." Our loss is truly God's gain. She will always be with us in spirit and her bright light will forever shine. She left us in a blaze of glory, and we will always love and miss her. Funeral services to be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77079 on Monday December 5 at 10:00AM. The family will receive friends starting at 9 am. A reception will immediately follow services. In lieu of flowers, family suggests a contribution to the organization of your choice.

Trish, We would love to have known your Mom. Knowing you and adding an Annie Oakley bent sounds realistic. Talk about dying with your boots on. She was a pistol. Mothers are so special, yours was certainly unique. We love you and our hearts go out to you and your Dad and sister. Bill and Judy Baker

Sorry, very sorry to learn of the one of the most most courageous ladies I know. Mrs. Erney is someone I want to remember as the type of person that made Houston, no,TEXAS what it is.So many of my brother Officers that have spoke of her actions and courage, wished the outcome would have been different. I was very lucky to have met Mrs. Erney many years ago , when I went to school with Jill. I , like many of my kind, wish we could have been there to asssist her in her time of need. God Bless. I never met Betty in person but knew her from her many phone calls to me after I became Guardian to my uncle (Dale Medlin). She was a wonderful person and I will miss our conversations. My prayers are with the family.

Dear Erney Family,
I did not know your Mom, but the story about her in the paper introduced her energy, zest for life and strength to the rest of the world. I am so sorry for your loss. My Mom had the same kind of energy and I miss her every day. The good thing about that kind of energy is that it gets passed on, and I am sure that you each have it. Bless you in your time of loss and may each day bring a wonderful memory of your Mom and take you closer to the kind of strength she had when she went out in a blaze of glory.
Respectfully,
Cay Dickson

I'm deeply saddened for Mrs. Erney. It has been 38 years since I last saw her. She and her family helped me to focus to stay in school. Her gentle soft spoken voice and her beautiful smile had touched my heart peacefully. She is truly an Angel.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
