Emile Jamail Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Emile Jamail Emile Jamail, born July 28, 1927, in Houston, Texas to Joseph D. Jamail and Marie Jamail, died Sunday, July 24, 2005, in Austin, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy Jamail; three children, Scott Jamail, Bryan Jamail and Tim Jamail and his wife Michelle; two grandchildren, James Jamail and Jason Jamail; brothers, Joe Jamail, Jr. and his wife Lee and Bill Jamail; sister, Florence Nakfoor and husband Emil; sister- in-law Connie Jamail and numerous nieces and nephews. Emile attended St. Thomas High School in Houston, Tex., served a two year tour in the Navy during WWII at the age of sixteen and, upon his return, went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin, where he met and married his lifelong love, Nancy Cater. After a brief stint in dental school, he moved to Austin to become a store manager for his father-in-law. He then opened a hardware store of his own in Tarrytown, which he sold after a few profitable years. Taking the money from the sale, Emile dove headlong into the homebuilding business. Despite having little or no formal training, he went on to become one of the most successful real estate developers in Austin, Tex., developing thousands of single family lots, hundreds of apartments and eighteen office buildings all over the city. He was fortunate enough to have lived the American Dream in every sense. Emile loved to hunt and did so right up until his final days. His other passion was watching football, which he played in high school, and he could often be seen writhing in his armchair with each and every play as he urged the players on. These passions were only surpassed by his love of fruit and produce, which he acquired as a youth working in his father's grocery business in Houston. He was a member of the Knights of the Symphony, Headliners Club, U.T. Club and Westwood Country Club. We will miss his drive, determination and devotion to family, while taking great comfort in knowing he is finally at peace with his maker and has been reunited with his father, mother, and older brother, George Jamail, all of whom predeceased him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John Neumann Catholic Church Building Fund, Society of St. Katharine Drexel or the charity of your choice. A private burial will be held at Assumption Cemetery with services to follow at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, located at 5455 Bee Caves Road, Austin, TX, behind the Village at Westlake Shopping Center. Emile's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all of Emile's physicians and caregivers for their patience, kindness and devotion.

Uncle Emile, Thank You for your Generosity, and the way you"d stick-up for me in your own way. As with being the role model of the Family.

Uncle Emile, sorry I was not able to be at your memorial; I could not get away, but I made sure I did something that you would think was worthwhile. I will miss you. Robert-
