Emma James Obituary

EMMA GARRETT JAMES, 63, retired nurse, of Memphis, passed away June 6, 2008. She was born in Memphis, TN on December 15, 1944, the daughter of the late Robert Garrett and the adoptive daughter of Eddie Harris. She leaves to mourn her mother, Mary Jones. At 19, Emma Garrett graduated from Baptist School of Nursing in 1963. She was a nurse for 40 years at City of Memphis Hospital, St. Joseph, Staff Builders and last Shelby County Correctional Facility, where she retired in 1999. The world has lost it's great NURSE! She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert James. She is survived by her a daughter, Marilyn Garrett Bond; and three sons, Joseph Yates Reginald and George Brown; sisters, Johnnie Jamerson, Mary, Gene and Gearld McKinney; brothers, Curtis, Ricky and Gregory McKinney; and grandchildren, Charles and Emily Bond, Joshina Yates, Charity and Lakeisha Brown. Visitation from 5-8 p.m., Friday, June 13. Services at 12 p.m., Saturday, June 14, both at M.J. Edwards Funeral Home Whitehaven Chapel. Burial at 10 a.m., Monday, June 16 in National Cemetery on Jackson.

May God Bless this family. I didnt have the pleasure of meeting this great lady in person. But I knew her through her son's( George ) vision. He spoke of her often. He loved his mother. God will give you peace!
