Gene and my older brother, Jack, were the ENTIRE graduation class of the two-room Glenrose Grade School in June of 1954. They both joked that Jack was the valedictorian and Gene was the salutatorian. (My brother, Jack, passed away about a year-and-half ago). Gene and his brother, Hank, both played the accordian, if memory serves. My family and the Peden family go way back to my very early childhood! We all attended Hillyard Church of God and were family! Gene and Kay had 2 very adorable little boys; Cary and Shawn! I babysat those stinkers often! When I think back on my growing up years, the Pedens were always a prominent part of my life! I went to high school with Kay´s brother, Don and we dated a bit! Gene and Henry´s mom, Georgia and my grandpa, Elmer Jeremiah, married each other after both had lost their...

Gene will be greatly missed, as an active member, bass singer, devoted elder, clever handyman, and mostly as a dear friend and mentor/brother in Christ. We have been deeply blessed by Gene's presence in our church family. And, with tears of grief, we celebrate his having gone Home to Glory.
