Francis Dow Obituary
Canterbury, NH - CANTERBURY – Francis Frank Dow, Sr. (85) passed away on January 26, 2024.
Francis was born in Bridgewater, NH on September 22nd, during the Hurricane of 1938. He was the son of Frank and Thelma (Atwood) Dow.
Francis grew up in Canterbury, NH on the family farm. He loved his tractors and heavy equipment. He worked as a logger and in the construction business. He sub-contracted with the State of New for many years. He owned and operated Canterbury Salvage. He also worked in New Mexico as a lumberjack. He loved traveling going to Alaska, Canada and many places across the country.
Francis is survived by his significant other; Ellen Winch; sons; Francis, Jr., Gary Dow, a daughter Debbie, sisters; Marian Lucas, Dale Hall and Aletha Trottier, three grandchildren; Jacob, Gavin and Diana Dow and several nieces and nephews.
Francis was predeceased by his parents and a son Richard, his sister; Shirley Brown and his ex-wife; Mary Hollins.
Calling hours for Francis will be held at the Bennett Funeral Home on February 7th, 2024 from 1pm – 3pm. Burial will be at a later date at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Canterbury, NH.
The Bennett Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

So sorry to hear of Francis's passing, I had wanted to get up to see him and so sorry I didn't get there. He was a great man and such a hard worker with such a great sense of humor. I loved his stories and that he always thought everyone knew 'where that place was', you know the house on the left after the old church that burnt down, well, at the end of the stonewall where that ol' horse was buried...you take that right...May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. He will be missed, but kept in our hearts and memories.
