FRANK MCGREGOR Obituary

June 22, 1950 - May 1, 2015 EDMOND Frank Harrison McGregor III was born June 22, 1950, in Oklahoma City to Frank Harrison McGregor, Jr. M.D. and Dorothy Lee Caffey McGregor and passed away unexpectedly at the age of 64 on Friday, May 1 in Las Vegas while on a guided bicycle ride around Lake Mead during his fraternity's annual trip. Frank graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1968 as a member of a close-knit class and from The University of Oklahoma with a degree in political science in 1972. He entered OU as a member of the President's Leadership Class, was thereafter inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society and was a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Frank obtained an MBA from OU in 1976. After working at Liberty Bank and becoming a CPA, he worked for Peat, Marwick, Mitchel & Co. After graduating from law school at The University of Oklahoma in 1989, he married Cherie in Oklahoma City and was so happy to also get a daughter, Heather. He practiced law at McKenzie, Sykora and Lee before entering into a solo practice in 1997. Frank's son, Harrison, was born in 1994 on his mother's birthday. In 2002, Frank joined Randy Kamp in business at Kampco Foods, where he remained as Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel until his death. Frank loved God, his family, his friends and his community. He cherished spending time with his wife and children, socializing with friends, playing football in the annual Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving Day, reading, crossword puzzles, riding his bicycle, and OU football. He was the head of the deacons at Westminster Presbyterian Church at the time of his passing. Frank was so excited about 2015 - the year he and Cherie celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, Harrison will celebrate his 21st birthday, and Frank would have celebrated his 65th birthday. Frank was a person of unquestionable integrity who had both a brilliant mind and a great sense of humor. He was a remarkable person and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Frank is survived by his wife, Cherie; daughter, Heather and partner Lindsay; son, Harrison; granddaughter, Kennedy Ann; his sister, Cathy Stocker, and husband, Rick West, from Enid; a beloved aunt; and several cousins; along with a host of friends. Frank's funeral will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4400 North Shartel Avenue in Oklahoma City at 1 p.m. on Thursday the 7th of May. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Oklahoma Children's Heart Center, 1200 N Everett Dr, Ste NP 2350, Oklahoma City, OK 73104, in memory of Frank McGregor.

Dear Frank,

You were my mentor & my friend. Whenever I called you with a legal question, you always made time in your busy day to offer counsel to a less experienced attorney. I have great memories of our times together at Perimeter Center, the OBA Solo & Small Firm Conferences, & playing golf at Choctaw Creek. You were a good man in everything you did: Student, athlete, CPA, attorney, husband, father & friend. My wife, Terry, & I were honored when you & Cherie attended our daughter's wedding. We will keep your family in our prayers. I'll miss you Frank. The world was a better place for your having been in it. It will be a lonelier place without you.

Growing up in OKC, we lived only a couple of blocks from the McGregors and I have memories of going over to their house. Frank's sister, Cathy, and I were in the same class at NWC high school and, of course, I remember Frank well. My sympathies to his entire family at his sudden passing.

Having worked with Frank's dad, Dr. F.H. McGregor, I've known this wonderful family since the late 60s. His dad was so proud of his children and shared wonderful stories about them and Dorothy. I feel blessed to have known them. Carol Mangham, OKC

Frank's picture should be in the dictionary to define "Gentleman." He was very accomplished man and was always a pleasure to be around. My prayers go out for his family.

We met briefly the night before his passing. We all wore smiles at the convening of our Fraternity brothers, as we see each other so seldom now.
Frank gave us a gift... The gift of enjoying friendship and family in the present.
Too few us us do this, and sometimes it takes one close to us passing to remind us just how special each moment is.
Thank you Frank!
Phi Alpha!

I was Frank's English teacher at Northwest Classen; he was one of my brightest and most enjoyable students. i have many fond and funny memories of him. several years ago at, i think, the evening of excellence, he was with his father. he came up and re-introduced himself and we had a delightful conversation. i am so sorry for your loss; may you be blessed by friends and family on this sad journey.

Frank was one of my best friends since 1966 up until the day he passed away.
I have some great memories of the times we spent together at not only NWC but at OU as room mates. To make it short, Frank was without a doubt one of the nicest, gentlest, honest men you could ever meet with such a contagious smile. I'm gonna miss you BUDDY !!!
My prayers go out to the family.

Frank possessed the rare gift of making you feel special and were the only one in the room that mattered, when interacting with him. I feel fortunate to have known him since grade school & when he played little league football for my dad. Every single time we were together through our adult years he'd always talk about how much he liked my dad, and he would make me smile. Cherie, Harrison, and Cathy, may your pain soon be replaced with the wonderful memories of the time you shared with him.

I was a fraternity brother of Frank's and was in Las Vegas with him. It was such a shock to all us that were there. Having been on the same flight out and had breakfast with him that unforgettable day makes it even harder to think of him as no longer being with us. He will always be in my thoughts and prayers. His life was a living testament to the rest of ours and gives us all hope and a better direction of how we should live our lives. Sharon and I wish his family our sincere condolences.

Frank was one of the most beloved members of our class, if not the most beloved. He was kind, generous and never met a stranger. Losing Frank is a huge loss to our class and to his many friends. I feel privileged to have been one of his friends and will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He will be genuinely missed. Rest in peace my cherished friend. You are loved.
