Gabriel B. Ruelas Obituary
94 years old, born April 1, 1918 and entered into heaven on January 29, 2013, just 2 months shy of his 95th Birthday. Gabriel was one of Arizona's finest boxers from 1939-1948. Gabriel in his life time witnessed the evolution of life itself and the environmental changes that came and made history! He loved the era of the "Rolling 20's" and often reminisced of his past times. He loved camping, dancing and spending time with family and friends. He was a dedicated Father to his children and family. He participated and supported many of his children and grandchildren in the sport of Boxing. Gabriel taught his family many things in life but he showed them that with determination and will anything is possible. Respect and unity was something he had instilled within family and the hearts of many, he was a legend in his own! Gabriel is Preceded in death by his wife Lucy Salas Ruelas; 6 children, 3 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. Gabriel is survived by: 4 Sons; 7 Daughters; 1 Brother; 1 Sister, 60 Grand Children; 173 Great Grand Children and 53 Great Great Grandchildren. Viewing will be held on Monday, February 4th, 2013 at Resthaven Park Mortuary & Cemetery 4310 East Southern Ave Phoenix, AZ 85042 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial Mass will take place on Tuesday, February 5th, 2013 at St. Catherine's of Siena Church 6200 S Central Ave Phoenix, AZ 85042. There will be a viewing from 8:00 a.m. till 9:45 a.m., with the burial mass commencing at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are being held under the direction of Restahaven Park Mortuary & Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ, www.resthavenpark.com

Tata u will always live on thru ur kids , grandkids, n great grandkids, Ur grandson Sonny has ur Hardworking bloodline n ur great grandson Phx has ur talent n determination in sports n fighting n he will carry on ur legacy in muay Thai boxing. Tata Today your were laid to rest and it was so hard to see you go. but I know that you are no longer in pain and will suffort no more and enjoy the better place that you have gone to along side of Nana Lucy and your children that have gone before you. Im so greatfull to have had you as long as we could we have learn so much from you and will hold on to all those memories. I am also greatfull to have had my grandsons your 4th generation of Ruelas also share those memories and to have spend sometime with you the last week of your life. Now RIP and look after all of us here until the day that we all will join you once again. Love you Tata Gabe!

Dear Tata, we WILL MISS YOU...us kids got to see you every other weekend and get closer then ever... Or when (Jesse Bandin iii) got to go to the state fair with you..Or Me (Wobbles) and Lizzette and Carlitos got to go with my Nana Toni and you to go eat, shopping, golden gate, camping, take rides up north, movies and just sit outside on the porch and laugh...you had a smile of GOLD. Tata, I didn't get the chance to really bond with you, due to us living out of state. What I loved most about you,was whenever we came to visit you would sit and talk with me and I had a hard time understanding you and you would laugh at me! You always had a smile on your face and at family gatherings would still get out there and dance. I'm so glad you graced us with your presence when I had my baby shower down there. I'm glad my son was able to meet his great great grandfather. I'm glad my husband was able to meet you as well. TaTa you will be missed very much,you were such a strong man and I heard plenty of stories about how tough you were. You are irreplaceable there will never be another TaTa,you were unique in so many ways. I love you,will miss not being able to see you when we visit but I know you are happy with your wife and kids and grandchildren up in heaven. Tata..I have so many memories that I will forever cherish but the one that forever will stay within my heart was the day you gave me the greatest compliment, you said you liked dancing with me because I had my Nana Lucys steps and moves! Tata Gabriel was a very special role model to all the youngsters, through out his life. He was always a special person that could share the back in the day memories with the younger kids. My favorite memory of him was when we would have Easter Sunday at Margarita Park. He would always run circles around the park. All the kids would follow him as he ran circles around the park. I was too chunky to do that so i would just watch from the sidelines. I also took up coffee from him it seem to be the best thing that i could do, it was so grown up. That's what i wanted to be grown up :) I'm going to miss him dearly and miss him dancing at family parties. Thank you for all your wisdom, I cant wait to share it with my boys.

Pa, May you continue to rest. I want you to know that am grateful for all the years we had you with us. I couldnt ask for a better Dad/Tata. You taught me so much and always keep those memeories we had dear to my heart. I only wish that you were here to see my baby be born. I guess it was time for you to go home. I want you to know that all never forget that day when you said that I wasnt your granddaughter, I was your daughter. I felt so proud that you thought of me as one of your own. Tata I will miss u dearly but am glad u are know in Heaven with my mama Mary Ledesma she has her daddie back now:-( I remeber we as kids always admired wat a great tata u were we would always wanna b following u when u would go on ur runs and show us ur boxing moves and u would hv a line of ur grandkids.
