Marge,as you know, Gail was a good friend and my coworker for many years. I always admired his dedication and passion to his work. Knowing him made me a better person. It was clear to me that he loved you and his family immensely. I will miss his friendship and guidance My sincere condolences.

Very sorry to hear of Gail's passing. We were neighbors growing up in Lisbon and we played basketball together. We were born on the same day in the same year. Gail was a great guy and will be dearly missed. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.

To Marjorie and family, Ann & Frannie, Faith & Jimmy;
I was deeply saddened at the news of Gail's passing. I last saw him this past summer and he shared with me his health issues. What a fine man he was for we knew one another for probably 50 years. I always admired him and respected and liked your entire family. I remember his Mom & Dad for we handled their funeral services many years ago. It was so nice of John to call me in Florida to connect. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time and I will be thinking of you all on Saturday when his service takes place. God Bless.

My very deepest sympathies to the entire Backus family. I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. Backus just one time, but his reputation as a fantastic person and wonderful family man was well known. It's certain that the world has lost a great human being. I will hold you all in my thoughts and prayers.

We have lost a good man. At the Dept. of Labor Gail was always willing to help. He was kind and friendly, easy to talk to. Our condolences to the family. May you find comfort in wonderful times shared together. We will miss him.
