Dear Donna and Family members,
We were unaware that Gene had passed away until this week. He was a lovely man, and I mean that in the best possible way. Every time we visited Gene and Donna, they were so gracious to us. And their love for one another was very clear. We're so sorry for your loss, and that we weren't aware and therefore unable to offer any support.
Sincerely, Dick & Ann Cobb Nov 14, 2014.

A few months before my dad, Dallas Greener, died, I took him to the barber shop in Gunnison. A man said, “Hello Dallas,” and dad said, “Hello Gene,” and we had a nice visit. It was clear that dad liked and admired Gene. That was about 14 years ago and I clearly remember being impressed with what a classy, friendly and dignified man Gene Peterson was.

Gene was a good friend of my uncle, Ronald Hermansen, who was a copilot in the Air Force in WWII and was killed in action. I had heard of Gene many times from my parents and grandparents. They were very fond of him as an individual and as a friend of Ron's. He was a hero to them and clearly a hero to his nation.
