I knew George for 50 years and worked side-by-side with him. Over the decades I contually marveled at his intelligence, constant high energy and numerous humanitarian endeavors. He became a major force for progress, growth and energy at Columbia-Presbyterian and then nationally. He was devoted to his wonderful wife Shelley and his accomplished children and grandchildren.
