Denair, California - George passed away December 16, 2022, in Turlock CA. with his family by his side. George was born in Greenville South Carolina to George and Mildred Lefler on November 27, 1942.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca Lefler, his children, George O. Lefler Jr. (Julia), Rodney Lefler and Lacie Lefler. Two of his children, Judson Lefler and Ginger Lefler, preceded him in death. Grandchildren, Joshua Lefler (Taysha), Jordan Lefler, Misty Copland (Kegan), Paul Daniels and Amanda Daniels. Great grandson Jaxon Lefler and great granddaughter Pyatin Daniels.
George was the oldest of 4 children. One brother Ronald Lefler and two sisters, Linda Tomlinson and Donna Krumm (Mike). Nephews, Monty and Jeff Tomlinson, Eric and Ryan Lefler, Andrew Krumm and many cousins that were very close.
The family moved from South Carolina to Seaside California in 1952. The family later moved to Merced where he attended Weaver school and graduated from Merced High School.
After graduation he went to work at Concrete Supply/Calaveras Materials and retired after 54 years of service. He belonged to Operating Engineers Local #3 and was a member of Nascar since 1970. He was always ready to talk about racing to everyone he met. George was known to all his fans as "Mr. Excitement".
Visitation will be on Monday December 2, 2022, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Stratford Evans Funeral Home, 1490 B. St., Merced CA. 95340. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Plainsburg cemetery, 8943 Gillette Ave., Merced CA. 95341
He will be greatly missed.
