GEORGE TOWNER Obituary
George C. Towner, Jr.
Died peacefully on October 25, 2021 at the age of 90. A graduate of Princeton University (52) and Harvard Law (56) he practiced civil law in Arlington, Virginia for 65 years. He was an impactful community leader and pioneer of Virginia soccer. In 1957, he married Clara Fitzpatrick, having five children: George III, Martin, John, Matthew, and Elizabeth. He was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Since 2011, he lived at Goodwin House Bailey's Crossroads making many dear friends and involving himself in resident affairs. George leaves behind his five children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Viewings will be held at Murphy's Funeral Home in Arlington VA Friday, November 5, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. November 6, at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, followed by burial at Columbia Gardens Cemetery. I still have fond memories of George Towner, my first soccer coach for the Arlington Potomac Kiwanis, I think it was back in 1972. Thank you for everything you have done. I have played your service forward.

Prayers for The family and for George! He was a very sweet and fun man! I have many fond memories of a great travel soccer trip thru Europe with Mr Towner, his son Matt and my brother Syd´s soccer team. May the souls of the faithfully departed Rest In Peace!
