Gladys Eskridge Obituary

Gladys Adams Eskridge, 90, of 310 Brevard Street, died Monday, Aug. 28, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born on April 26, 1916, in Yadkin County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Monroe Adams and Ida Harris Adams. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Solon Thomas Eskridge, and three great-grandchildren, Jull and Jennifer Woodward and Christopher Budd. Survivors include a son, Jack Eskridge of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Pardue of Mocksville and Mrs. Linda Eudy of Statesville; two brothers, Lonnie and Carl Adams both of Ronda; and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Riggs of Richmond, Va., and Mrs. Georgia Hemrick of Winston-Salem. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Michael Pardue and wife, Mary; Sherry Woodward and husband, Dr. Joe Woodward; Karen Budd and husband, John Budd; Jacob Eskridge and wife, Donna; Jeffrey Eskridge; Joseph Eudy and wife, Angela; Joshua Eudy and wife, Gretchen; and Maria Carpenter and husband, Vic. She was also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, Alex Pardue; Matthew and Jaclyn Woodward; Nathan, Jordan and Nicholas Budd; Jessica and Justin Eskridge; Lauren, Michael and Matthew Eudy; Allison and Andria Eudy; and Nathan, Seth and James Carpenter. Services celebrating Mrs. Eskridge's life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Porter, the Rev. Joe Woodward and the Rev. Victor Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
