Mr. Zimmerman was a second father to me. He was a supporting figure responsible not just for giving me a second chance in life when I was at a dark moment in the Army, but also being a caring a supporting figure to me for years after. I met him when I needed to talk to someone for depression and he is one of the few people who knew how bad life was for me. I'm so saddened to hear of his passing and hope his wife, Janice will be okay. She was a tough cookie and a wonderful cook (I ate over there plenty of times). Mr. Zimmerman and his wife shaped the lives of more people than they likely know and I'm thankful to have met them both. Glenn, I hope up there, you're doing well. I love you, man. I only wish I spent more time with you while I was in El Paso, but let me tell you I'm sorry for making you disappointed that I wasn't as good a friend near the end as I should've been and I... never stopped thinking of you. I wish I gave you one last call before you passed away. You were one of the greatest people I've ever met in my life. Thank you for giving this dumb kid a chance to be happy. You saved me.

Mrs. Janice Zimmerman and Family,
My heart is with you as we all celebrate his upcoming birthday. Glen was one of those rare souls that was generous, compassionate, and kind to everyone he met. He is greatly missed among all who knew him. I know the sunlight is a little dimmer because he is not with us but I know he is in a better place. May God watch over his family in this time of need.---John Furness & Theresa York

Janice: My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Glenn's dedication to social work remains a consistent in my life - he was definitely a treasured peer. I depended on Glenn's broad perspective in peer supervision, and even after leaving WM Beaumont, we continued to confer on difficult cases. I will miss him as a friend and a fellow professional.

Glenn Zimmerman, one of those unique individuals who quietly and effectively served his fellow man making lives better and enriching the world in which we live. Never boastful or arrogant, but enthusiastic and sincerely interested in others. He could take lemons and make lemonade out of any situation. Encouraging, determined, and kind. I see his tall, lanky frame topped off with his black cowboy hat...under it, his handsome face and big smile- with arms open for a hug. He was a wonderful friend and gentleman in whose company and conversation we delighted. We are indebted to him and Janice for the times and memories that sustain us now and for the opportunity to have walked in life together. Judy Kummrow and family

I had the privilege of having Glenn as a friend and as a social work colleague. He knew no limits in fulfilling his professional duties. He was consistently conscientious and daily went above and beyond in taking care of his patients , and he did the same for friends. He was a person who was loyal and straight spoken. Glenn did the right thing and he could express why he did what he did. He was a prince of a man and lived a purposeful, open hearted life. Healing was one of his many gifts. I will miss him so much and am fortunate to have shared so many work endeavors with him. My thoughts and prayers are extended to his wife and two daughters.
