Gregory St. Louis Obituary

Greg was born on November 8, 1943, in Fresno, Ca. and passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2009. His mother, RoseAnn Abbott St. Louis was a direct descendant of the Abbott family that settled in Connecticut in 1634 and direct descendants of President Rutherford B. Hayes. His father James St. Louis' family settled in Ca. in 1852, and came to the Fresno area in 1855. Greg did not know the meaning of the word "stranger". Within five minutes he knew your name, where you went to school, where you worked, where you were from, how long you've been here and if you planned to stay. He will be deeply missed by Margie, his wife of 43 years; his son, Christopher; his daughters, Angela and Stephanie; his beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Sidney, Diana, Max, Elijah, Skylar and Matthew; and brothers, David, Tim, Terry, and Tom. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Sunday, February 1, 2009, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Cathedral on Monday, February 2, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Gustine, Ca. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. WHITEHURST Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home 1525 East Saginaw Way Fresno, Ca. Uncle Greg
I miss you so much.
You never really know how much you love someone until they are gone. Then all the memories come back. I don’t remember a time when you and Aunt Margie weren’t in my life. I can’t think of any childhood memories that don’t include Uncle Greg and Aunt Margie. I don’t remember a birthday, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or a New Years Party, without You and Aunt Margie being there. If we bought a new car we had to take over to your house to check out. Going to the Cabin in Don Pedro, coaching baseball with you, just hanging out, I have nothing but great memories. Your house was like being at home.
I remember when I was about 11 years old and I was riding my bike to your house. I was messing with my brakes on the bike while riding it, and my thumb got caught in the wheel. I pulled my thumb out but I knew it was hurt badly. When I got to your house, my Mom was very upset, and you and Aunt Margie took care of me. It was the first time I saw a serious side of you. You took control and when I started to faint and pass out you knew exactly what to do. I remember as a kid feeling secure and knowing that you would take care of me.
As life takes its turns the time spent together was less. I am truly sorrow for that. But I have always loved you and your family as my family. There was no difference.
Thank you so much for a lifetime of memories, that will keep us laughing and smiling for the rest of our lives.
I love you

Greg. Words can never express how much you meant to me and my family. Every day your gentle, loving presence filled my home bringing smiles to all blessed enough to be in your company. You always had a joke, always had a song, always had a dance to be enjoyed. You had great faith in us, in our business. We were blessed to have you in our lives. You were my mom's best friend and greatest confidant in these recent times, I know that you'll be watching over us up there. I have learned by your example, that everyone, absolutely everyone, is important and deserving of a warm greeting and friendly conversation. Now you can bring everyone up there smiles and laughter. Say hi to the big guy for us. He has truly gained an angel.

I will miss you Uncle Greg, I wish we would have made the effort to see you more especially for my kids. They would have seen why so many of your nieces and nephews thought you were the most thoughtful coolest Uncle ever. Our prayers and thoughts are with you Aunt Margie and kids.

My deepest sympathy to all Fresno, they have lost a wonderful gentle man. I met you about 3 years ago while visiting family and you would always make me laugh. We are both scorpions and you would always tell me what kind of day we would be having.
The most memorable day was when you took me to your home so Margie could fix my dress for my daughters wedding.
I miss you and think about you especially in the mornings, you would get your cup of coffee and I would get an orange juice. We would talk about how the day was planned and what needed to be fixed. You were very good about fixing things and making them work.
I hope that one day I can go back to Fresno and celebrate your life, thank you for having me as a friend and a co-worker. I love you my friend. One other thing I will always be reminded of you, your voicemail would say "this is Greg".

We love you Uncle Greg!

The Baeza Family

Uncle Greg, I speak for all of us in the Baeza home, and all of us will miss you. We all loved your sense of humor and we all got a kick out of how you always introduce yourself to our friends as the white uncle. You always went out of your way to say hello and give hugs, thank you and aunt margie for always finding time to see my mom and dad. I on a personal note Linda Baeza, really loved you we had a special bond. Thank you for coming to my 50th birthday, I have a picture with my entire family and guess who is setting right in the front on the floor ,yes it was you. I will treasure that day always. My mom and my niece Brittany, remember your great dance moves and the ethopian culture wedding of your friends. My niece was so moved by you when you went out of your way to feed her Kfc. To a college student some elders are square but to her you are cool. We rest assure that you are in peace and we know you loved the lord, we will always love and miss you.
Aunt margie we send our deepest sympathy to you and your family and your precious grandchildren.

Love Always,
The Baeza Family

I met you and your wonderful family when I was ten years old, playing pop warner football with Chris. We have been friends ever since. That was thirty one years ago. I will always remember going over to your house to hang out. You treated me like you did everyone else, like family. I have never forgot that and will miss you. Every time I have seen you and we were able to talk over the years, you were the same as when I met you as a kid, always kind, funny and selfless. You never forgot anyone and I will never forget you. To Margie and the rest of your family I am truly sorry. Greg gets to hang out with God now. God bless to all the St.Louis family. Love, Dave, Elaine, Macie, Tori and Trevor Wilson.

Uncle Greg,

It seems we spent a lifetime chewing the fat in front of your house and at family functions, yet it seems that our time was cut short. I hope that you find peace in heaven. Your passing leaves a hole in the world for a lot of us who are left to carry on in your stead. Thank you Uncle Greg for being a true hero in our family but most of all Uncle Greg: Thank You for always being my friend. I will miss you.

I Love You Tio,

Yours truly,

Greg, you have been one of my truest friends for over 50 years. We have shared many great times and also the speed bumps of live.
I will miss you for the rest of my days. Thank you for your love and support when I lost my son, Christian. There is only one thing I will never forgive you. That is when you introduced me to the game of GOLF, and that is why I'm taking high blood pressure meds. I LOVE YA MAN!
