As the 1st vice president of the GKCASL, I appreciate Mr. Leimkuhler's great contributions to the field of school librarianship. I have notified our state organization, the MO Association of School Librarians, as well. I am so sorry for your loss!

I volunteered with Gus at the orientations in Liberty, MO. I always enjoyed our time together working with the new students as they entered the United States for their year in Kansas, Missouri and Iowa. We have not stayed connected since those orientations ended but I would occasionally hear about him or ask someone that knew him. I know that he will be missed by everyone that ever made his acquaintance. He was quite a nice and kind and thoughtful person in all ways.

Gus will forever be my mentor, my teacher, and my good friend. I will miss talking to him about New York and the theater. He meant so much to so many. The lights of Broadway and NKC will be dimmer with his passing. We love you, Gus.

Jim, Ann, and families,
I'm so sorry to hear about Gus. Some of my best memories from high school include Gus and the way he was more than a librarian; he was also a friend to so many of us. My deepest sympathies to you all.

Gus and his wonderful family lived across the street from our family in the little subdivision of Crestview in the Kansas City northland. He was an amazing person and neighbor. Gus was loved by everyone. Rest in peace Gus, you will be missed.

Gus was an inspiration. Always willing to listen and encourage young people. When I became a librarian myself he brought me a lovely gift that still sits on my desk at the public library I work at now. I´d like to think that he set an example for me that I try and uphold. A blessing to know him.

He was one of my favorite adults when I was a student at NKCHS.
He had been there when my mom attended & he was attentive to checking in with me as I was a new student, coming in as a Junior.
He knew everyone in the KC area. He was smart, creative, had a keen sense of fashion.
He loved life & was a marvelous human being. He left his mark on this world & he will be sorely missed.
Prayers go out to his family & friends during this time.
