Gwendolyn S. Allen, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia, the city that not only welcomed her into the world on May 26, 1957, but also served as the backdrop for a life rich with love and connection. Gwendolyn was a beacon of warmth and vibrant spirit whose legacy will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
Known for her exquisite flair for hairdos and fashion, Gwendolyn was a true artist in every sense, crafting not just her appearance but also the atmosphere around her. Her culinary skills brought family and friends together, creating gatherings where laughter drowned out the quiet, and joy filled every corner. She possessed a nurturing nature that made everyone feel cherished and valued, embodying the essence of fellowship.
Gwendolyn’s life was a testament to love—love for her family, which was her greatest joy; love for her friends, who shared in her adventures; and love for all who crossed her path, leaving an unforgettable impression through her boundless compassion and effervescent personality. Her spirit of freedom inspired many, reminding us all to embrace life fully and without hesitation.
She is survived by her three loving daughters, Krystal Allen, Deanna Allen, and Michelle Allen, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and resilience. Gwendolyn also leaves behind a cherished granddaughter, Olivia, and three grandsons, Isaiah, Jaquan, and Legend, who were the light in her eyes and the joy of her heart. Her sisters, Bertha Fitts, Delane (Ronnie) Smiley, and Denise Davis, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, will forever hold her memory close.
Gwendolyn has been reunited in peace with her loving mother, Loretta Johnson, and her father, Johnny Hall Sanders, both of whom undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms. In this time of sorrow, we find solace in knowing that she is no longer suffering but has entered a sweet, holy rest.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gwendolyn’s incredible life. Visitation will be held on October 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA 30901. Let us gather to honor a remarkable woman who filled our lives with laughter, love, and beautiful memories. To know Gwendolyn was indeed to love her, and her spirit will live on in each of us forever.
