Hazel Edwards Obituary
Hazel lived most of her life in Sherrills Ford. A devoted and loving wife and mother, she will be remembered for her gentleness, kindness, and her cooking and baking.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Howard Brinkley Edwards, in 1996, and by her parents, Ray and Julia Starnes Wilson.
Hazel is survived by her son, Robert L. Edwards of Raleigh; daughters, Rosemary Sigmon of Winston-Salem and Dianne Gundlach of Asheville; seven granchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Smyrna Independent Church, 6770 Sherrills Ford Rd. in Catawba, NC, with Pastor Charles Ballard officiating. Hazel was a long-time member of Smynra Independent Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1:00 p.m.- 1:45 p.m. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, 320 W. Maple Street,Yadkinville, NC 27055, or Smyrna Independent Church, 6770 Sherrills Ford Road, Catawba, NC 28609.

Bobby. Rosemary, Diane and family. you are in our thoughts and prayers. we lost Dad in August 2017 at age 99. it is hard to give up our parents. no matter their age. for they will be missed.Kenneth and I grew up knowing your family and going to school with you girls. Your Mom was so sweet and kind to everyone and was loved by all who knew her.
